This month, the Pope speaks to us in the first person to transmit his prayer intention to us: he himself is among the elderly who have never before been this numerous “in the history of humanity.” Francis tells us that society offers the elderly “many plans for assistance, but few projects for existence,” forgetting the great contribution they can still make. They “are the bread that nourishes our lives, the hidden wisdom of a people,” the Pope adds, inviting us to “celebrate them” on a “day dedicated to them”: the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly. Sharing this video is a way to thank them for all they are and do in our families.

We pray that the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick confer to those who receive it and their loved ones the power of the Lord and become ever more a visible sign of compassion and hope for all
